Riverwood Appreciation Lunch
Columbia, MD
The Riverwood project held an appreciation lunch on Friday, February 8th for the subcontractors on the job. It was a great way to show Harkins’ appreciation for everyone’s hard work keeping the jobsite safe and clean. Both the Harkins team and our contractors have been working six days week and extended work hours to help overcome several delays to the project and meet the tight deadline of April 15th.
The interior and exterior renovation of the 58,500 sq. ft. in two pods in Columbia, MD began in mid-December. Although in the same building, the two suites are separated by a demising wall and have unconnected entrances. The framing, drywall, MEP rough-ins, and structural steel work on the roof in both buildings is now underway. The suites will receive new HVAC equipment with roof top units, two emergency generators, extensive underground plumbing, electrical, interior storefront systems, and pre-finished stained wood doors. Interior finishes will consist of paint, wall protection, carpet tile, luxury vinyl tile, ceramic wall and floor tile, specialty flooring, window treatments, and architectural millwork with solid surface counters and sinks. Work on the exterior of the building will include new stairs, sidewalks, and ramps, roofing, and the replacement of storefront systems and exterior doors.
The building will serve Howard County Government employees within the Departments of License and Permits (DILP), Transportation and Special Projects, Engineering Administration, Utility Design, Highways and Traffic Signal Shop, Loan Closet, and Highway Storage, and have a mix of offices, conference rooms, storage rooms, multiple break rooms, and open workstations.
Great job to this team for working through all of the challenges that this project has brought forth thus far while maintaining the proper sequencing and flow of construction activities.
