Responsibilities

  • Manage the production, quality, safety, and timely profitable completion of assigned project through subordinates, subcontractors, and other vendors.
  • Review and approve timely subcontractor requisitions and invoices as designated by the Lead superintendent in accordance with the Company’s accounting procedure.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned project engineers, assistant Lead superintendents, trainees, and direct labor, creating a challenging and rewarding environment for professional and personal growth.
  • Under the direction of the Lead superintendent, review, coordinate, and process timely shop drawings and samples and specification sheets.
  • Ensure that the Company’s safety program is enforced at a zero-tolerance level on the project site at all times, and maintain adequate staffing with appropriate Harkins supervision when any subcontractor is working.
  • Ensure that the Company’s Quality Control Program is enforced. Assist with developing a site-specific quality control plan based on the Company template, conducting a thorough preconstruction meeting with every subcontractor prior to the commencement of the subcontractor’s work, as well as any other meetings and inspections required to implement the Company’s four-phase Quality Control Plan.
  • Notify Lead superintendent in a timely manner of all changes in the Contract, problems with the design, etc. to ensure compliance with the Contract Documents.
  • Seek approval from supervisor prior to the start of any work considered outside the scope of the Contract Documents.
  • Ensure the timely distribution of needed utilities to the project in order to maintain the production schedule and the timely completion of rough-ins and model units (if applicable) to determine the standard of quality and to mitigate potential problems.
  • Maintain a working set of as-built drawings on site at all times.
  • Under the guidance of the Lead superintendent, prepare project schedules that represent a logical/detailed progression of work with reasonable time frames for completion of milestones and overall completion. Update schedule at least monthly or more often as the contract requires.
  • Review preconstruction checklist to ensure proper bonding, insurance certificates, signed contracts, or any specialized paperwork (SF1413 for military projects, HUD, etc.) before subcontractors commence work.
  • Work with field administrators to ensure that insurance certificates and wage reports are up-to-date.
  • Assist with generating, and update regularly, all site logs, including shop drawing, RFI, material control, visitor and applicant flow, TO, etc., in accordance with company policy.
  • Under the guidance of the Lead superintendent, generate purchase orders for non-contracted items.
  • Assist with maintaining daily reports of all site activities.
  • As directed by the Lead superintendent, chair weekly progress meetings with subcontractors and prepare and distribute meeting minutes in a timely manner.
  • As directed by the Lead superintendent, participate in preparing for monthly job reviews, including Lead superintendent’s projections, updated schedule review, etc.
  • Expedite the construction of an exterior mock-up as directed to include exterior finishes, trim, roofing, windows, air barrier, flashings, and termination details. This will be done in a cutaway section, so all details can be reviewed and approved by architect and owner.
  • Provide supervisor updates on project staffing and provide input on staffing needs.
  • Attend required corporate meetings, training programs, and Harkins University seminars/webinars.
  • Maintain professionalism and integrity in all contacts and communications.
  • Produce the highest quality project in accordance with the plans and specifications.
  • Exceed client expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Benefits & Compensation

Harkins offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, retirement/401k, and Company Contribution plan. Additional benefits include life insurance, short & long-term disability, HSA/FSA, tuition reimbursement, and mileage and expense reimbursement. For this role, the base salary range is $60,000-$80,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
