Aspen Heights University City
Aspen Heights University City is a new 24-acre student housing community located near UNC Charlotte, featuring 188 units and 730 beds across four apartment buildings and 29 townhome-style buildings. Many of the units follow the emerging four-bedroom, four-bathroom modern layout design, offering students a more private and modern living experience. Community amenities include a 12,000 sf clubhouse with a yoga studio, clubroom, and zen courtyard, along with a sand volleyball court, basketball court, outdoor kitchen, and a resort-style pool with a deck and grilling areas.
Designed to complement its suburban surroundings, the development incorporates cultured stone, fiber cement siding, and sloped shingle roofs. Harkins managed the complexities of this large, sloped site through extensive preconstruction planning and adaptive construction strategies. The team overcame major infrastructure challenges, including the installation of large underground detention systems and significant earthwork, while maintaining project efficiency and schedule.
