Brightview Columbia

Centrally located in Columbia, MD, Brightview Columbia is a newly constructed 198,459 sf senior living community offering 170 units of independent living, assisted living, and memory care. The four-story building, constructed with a combination of Hambro and wood framing, provides a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments designed to accommodate a range of resident needs. Residents enjoy a host of resort-style amenities, including three fireplaces, fine dining venues, a pub, billiards and card rooms, a movie theater, art studio, beauty salon, and multiple landscaped courtyards featuring a bocce court, putting green, fountains, and shaded areas. A signature 30 ft cupola crowns the structure, replicating the original that once stood atop the neighboring Athol Manor.

Another important element of the project was the restoration of the adjacent 18th-century Georgian-style Athol Manor. Once in disrepair, the historic 280-year-old landmark was preserved in accordance with Howard County’s development standards and now serves as the headquarters for the Community Foundation of Howard County. The restored space is also dedicated to supporting local non-profit arts organizations, bridging the site’s historical significance with community enrichment. Additionally, nearby Martin Park was upgraded to include accessible walking paths, benches, and other enhancements to benefit both residents and the surrounding neighborhood. Brightview Columbia seamlessly blends modern senior living with a deep respect for local heritage and community impact.
