Busboys and Poets (Merriweather E2)
Merriweather E2 is a new cultural hub that is part of the 35-acre mixed use development planned for the Merriweather District located in Downtown Columbia. This freestanding building features a Busboys and Poets restaurant, the restaurant’s largest location in the DMV area, with over 400 seats, a second-floor terrace with outdoor seating, a bookstore, and a room for private events.
The project used a total of 115 tons of steel. Exterior finishes of the building include multiple metal panels, corrugated metal siding, break metal flashing, and custom overhead coiling doors. A highlight of Harkins’ scope involved precisely coordinating and executing every penetration of the exterior skin, aligning with the building’s column lines.
