Christ’s Home Wing Addition
Christ’s Home Wing Addition is the expansion of an existing senior living community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The expansion features 30 new independent living units, a new medical suite, and the renovation of Smyth Hall and the existing bistro. The units offer spacious two-bedroom layouts, some with an additional den, designed to provide comfort and flexibility. In addition, there is a large, two-story lobby with a fireplace and seating, a small movie theater, and a community room.
At the heart of the addition is the renovated and expanded bistro and dining room, located at the connection point between the new and existing buildings. The updated kitchen and layout enable staff to prepare a wider variety of meals, significantly improving the culinary experience. The dining area now opens to a large outdoor patio featuring alfresco dining and a water feature, offering residents a scenic and relaxing atmosphere. Additional sitework included parking lot improvements, the conversion of an existing detention basin, and the replacement of a bioretention basin.

Christ’s Home Wing Addition was delivered efficiently through strong quality control and innovative scheduling. Harkins used Building Information Modeling (BIM) to prevent conflicts and employed lean construction methods to address unforeseen challenges and procurement delays. The team overcame obstacles like an underground duct bank conflict and a delayed delivery of electrical gear by adjusting the schedule and developing fast-track solutions. These efforts allowed the project to stay on track, ahead of schedule, and under budget.
