Lex Woods Apartments
Lex Woods Apartments is an affordable housing community in Lexington Park, MD, originally built in 1984. The project involved the comprehensive renovation of 78 flat-style one-, two-, and three-bedroom units across six two-story buildings, completed in two phases. Phase I included upgrades to 42 units and the construction of a new community building, while Phase II addressed the remaining 36 units. To support new open floor plans, structural modifications included the installation of pier footings. Interior renovations featured new flooring, fresh paint, upgraded HVAC and plumbing systems, modernized kitchens with new appliances, cabinets, and countertops, as well as new plumbing fixtures.
Life safety enhancements included the installation of sprinklers in all units and the addition of dedicated sprinkler rooms at the ends of each building. The project also replaced the existing community center with a new 1,900-square-foot resource center that offers a community room, leasing and maintenance offices, laundry facilities, and an inviting outdoor area with a covered porch and patio. Located on the western edge of Lexington Park, the community offers convenient access to nearby retail centers, well-regarded schools, and public transportation options.
