Quantico Ph II Student Quarters P-546 and P-547
The P-546 and P-547 dormitories were constructed as mirror images of the first phase of Harkins’ work at The Basic School, framing a defined pedestrian axis through the heart of the campus. Designed in the Georgian architectural style, these four-story buildings reflect the Base Exterior Architecture Plan with traditional detailing and materials. The dormitories feature gray standing seam metal roofs, brick cladding with traditional quoins and arches, and precast concrete accents, including entry features, sills, belt courses, and a sturdy base, all contributing to a timeless and unified design.
Designed with functionality and comfort in mind, these buildings provide 248 modules, each featuring a shared two-person sleeping area, private bathroom and shower facilities, common lavatory, and gear areas. Every floor includes a common core with laundry, storage, housekeeping, and meeting rooms, creating a balanced environment for living, learning, and officer training.

“One of Harkins’ biggest strengths was their professionalism, cooperation and commitment to customer satisfaction. Throughout the planning and design process of the projects, the contractor met continuously with the customer, the Basic School (TBS), to ensure that their wants and needs were being met. This resulted in well thought out designs and new facilities that exceed expectations.”
