Harkins Celebrates the Grand Opening of Irvington Woods Apartments

August 4, 2025  |  Project Update

Baltimore, MD

On Monday, August 4th, Harkins joined Volunteers of America, Studio K Architecture, and other project partners to celebrate the grand opening of Irvington Woods Apartments with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Baltimore, MD.

This project was the renovation of 71 garden-style apartments with enclosed breezeways across four buildings. Each building is three stories of wood frame with pitched roofs, and apartment options include one- or two-bedrooms, each with one bathroom.

Interior renovations included doors, appliances, T&B’s, flooring, and cabinets. Facade scope included new vinyl windows, shingle roofs, brick power washing, new siding, and breezeway storefront replacements. Site scope included select concrete & paving replacement, dumpster enclosure upgrade, and a new playground. Flooring and drywall were abated and replaced.

Harkin’s COO Omar Black had the chance to speak at the ribbon cutting, where he noted Harkin’s personal connection to the Irvington neighborhood through our former President & CEO Blase Cooke, who was from this Baltimore neighborhood. “There’s a sense of pride and responsibility that comes with building in a place tied to our own history, and we don’t take that lightly,” he stated.
