The Harkins Foundation Celebrates the Groundbreaking of the Catonsville Emergency Assistance Project

Thursday, July 16, marked an exciting milestone for both Catonsville Emergency Assistance (CEA) and The Harkins Foundation as community leaders, volunteers, and local organizations came together to celebrate the groundbreaking of CEA’s new food distribution center.
This project also represents a defining moment for the Foundation. As its first community build initiative led by the Board of Directors, it reflects an expanded commitment to making a hands-on impact. While the Foundation will continue to host fundraising events that support meaningful causes, this initiative demonstrates how those efforts are evolving into lasting investments that strengthen the communities where we live and work.
Demand for food assistance continues to grow. Catonsville Emergency Assistance reports that one in three people in the community faces food insecurity, making this expansion an important investment in the future. Once complete, the new facility will provide additional space for food storage and distribution, allowing the organization to serve more neighbors while enhancing the overall experience for those seeking assistance.
